Admission Details: Completion of two (2) Compassion Course and one (1) WRAP is required to enter this program. Email torontowayne@gmail.com for details. This course is limited to 15 nice Adult ADHD individuals. New participants will not be admitted after the WEEK 2 meeting. 

Pathways: Graduates of this course will have the skill set in supporting others as well as allowing themselves the opportunity to thrive more in life. Additional preparatory work can be added toward becoming a Registered Peer Supporter. ADHD Toronto offer additional evidence-based courses that will help you to clarify lifelong feelings and develop a personalised self-care plan that fits your lifestyle.

Peer support is emotional and practical support between two people who share a common experience, such as a mental health challenge or illness. A Peer Supporter has lived through that similar experience, and is trained to support others.

Peer Support Services in Health Care

Peer support services are defined by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) as specialized assistance that is delivered by a person in recovery from a serious mental illness (SMI), substance use, or co-occurring mental and substance use condition, before, during, and after treatment to facilitate a recipient’s long-term recovery in the community.

Six Core Elements of Activation have been Identified:

  1. Symptom self-management
  2. Engagement in actions that support health and functioning maintenance
  3. Involvement in treatment decision making
  4. Collaboration with health care providers
  5. Critical, performance-based selection of providers
  6. Navigation of the provider system
